Acidentally ran diesel through a Nitro FX!! Help

so lets say (hypothetically) someone accidentally put diesel fuel in a Nitro with less than 400mi and ran it until, surprise surprise, it died. tank was approx. 1/4 full (with premium) prior to being filled with the dies.

what kind of problems could this create? worst case? could the higher compression have bent the rods, blew the rings, etc? thinking of just draining the tank and lines, replacing the filter/plugs, oil change for good measure and trying to fire it up. but i figured i'd check with those who are actually knowledgable on the subject before i potentially ruined a basically brand new sled. any help is appreciated! thanks

Drain it all and get fresh gas in and try and start it. Its when you put gas in a diesel machine you have issues....should be fine I would think.

Diesel in a gas should not cause problems, but gas in a diesel=big problems.

I once filled my dad's rzr with diesel, siphoned it out and filled it with gas, still running fine and that was probably 1000 miles ago. Not a sled but both 4 strokes, you shouldnt have a problem. I also have filled up my dad's diesel truck with gas felt stupid after that one.

If it was me I would drain out fuel, fill tank with new gas, replace the spark plugs, start it and ride. good luck but you should be fine

a buddy of mine accidently put some deisel in his nytro [only about 1 1/2 gallons] then topped her up with gas and it ran he burnt the whole tank out of it and never skipped a beat

Well the injectors should be spotless!! Relax, refill and do not repeat!

I have seen this a few times...drain as much as you can refill with fresh gas, and change the sparkplugs...nothing else needed...it wont hurt the motor or the fuel system...might run a touchy funky for the first tank..

well apparently i was making much ado about nothing. just like y'all said....emptied it out, new filter and plugs...started right up. smoked pretty good for a while and now back to normal. thanks!

Watched a guy put 6 gal diesel in his polaris, he freaked out, asked what he should do, I siphoned it out, and dumped it in my apex. Free gas, nothing better.

Diesel should have a pretty high antiknock rating!
