ABS Vario vs Float

First Place Parts is running a sale on their avy bags, and I've done research on both bags and I'm between the Vario55L and the Float22. I'm looking for any input on space, comfort of the bags. I've worn the Vario just in a garage and thought it was really heavy but I know any avy bag is going to have weight to it. I'm just looking for storage for spare goggles, gloves, and a couple gatorades. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I'm hoping the 55L is a typo and that you meant 15L. Abs has two bags inflated by nitrogen, no worries about icing up, which air delivery system (could) have potential problems in certain conditions, I'm not willing to take that chance. Although refilling becomes less costly with the float, however you hope to never deploy, except for test fire. Cost for Abs is likely more, however end of season sales you can find good deals. I've got a 15L Abs (not Vario) going up for sale next week in great shape $400 bucks, great deal for someone not wanting to spend too much for a nice pack.

I run a Float 18. Looking to upgrade to the Float 22 for the designated shovel and probe storage. Float is easy to refill, I do my own with a kit BCA sells and a 135cf scuba tank.

Whatever you buy, my considerations would be storage (not too big a bag but room for shovel, probe, water, extra gloves), right side trigger, and price. There are pro's and cons to bag deployment configurations, such as visibility, but, I don't think you can go wrong. You are better off with any bag than none at all. Just remember it's not a free ticket to ride stupid terrain.
