ABS Freeride

I have a question as far as how long the tank is good for? Its been screwed in the bag for 4 years. Havent had to deploy it. Just wondering if I should get a new tank? I dont want to find out the hard way... when I really need it!
Thanks

Not on an ABS, the trigger shoots a charge that pierces the canister for deployment

I waited 3 years and when I tested it only one side fully deployed and the other 25%,now I test every year and is good,2008 freeride

Having it connected has no impact on leakage. It may lose weight - it's on a sticker on the bottle. If you weigh it and it hasn't changed, the bottle is good. But testing the bag every year is not just for the bottle, other stuff happens, triggers, hoses, bags, etc.

sometimes you can accidentally fold up the venturi valve and cause this issue. the bag really should be dried out at the end of your season and repacked following the instructions on the included card.

at work, we have had about half a dozen abs deployments in the last month alone. two of those did not fully inflate and one failed to deploy even though the trigger was activated. abs is investigating and will get back to us on the issues but that one seems to have been a dud.

also, remember that the bag doesn't work if the slide runs into a terrain trap (gulley, trees, abrupt transition, benches, etc), doesn't run far enough or a secondary wave comes behind you. a guy we dug out this season stopped breathing after being buried for 2 minutes face down with the bag on him.

Probably fine if the bottle weight hasn't changed, but testing it is good practice. Will give you an idea of how hard you have to pull to set it off.

The first time I activated two packs from different manufacturers, I didn't pull hard enough on the first try and had to give the handles a second tug. Now I know it takes a solid pull.
