ABS canister sizes

I own a freeride ABS pack, well I was at the snowmobile swap meet I found some canisters for a good price from an ABS dealer, so I bought them but what I did not realize is that they are bigger than the ones I have for my freeride, the new ones weigh 582.6 and my other one ways 475 and is about one inch smaller in length.

My question hopefully someone can answer is does this matter? obviously the new ones have a bigger charge...Or are they the same charge just different size and weight???are they designed for a bigger bag? or are they fine?

Thanks

I know that for my Escape ABS pack there are a number of different cannisters that weigh different amounts but are supposed to contain the same amount of nitrogen. Could be that your Freeride cannisters may have different weights as well.
Go to the site below for more info. This is the Canadian distributor.

My ABS Escape 15 has a 585.90 gram cylinder in it. It sounds like you have cylinders for an escape.

Thanks!! The freeride comes from the same line as your escape 15, the escape line, we should both have the same size canister.

I am going to have to call RMX tomorrow..they show the yellow canister on there site,, I am confused... the 475 canister is black and says dual only on the canister...

hate like hell to blow my backpack and over inflate my bag:eek:

Did they come with the trigger or did you just get the yellow canister?

What color canister did you have and what color canister do you have now?
There have been about 3 or 4 different versions of canisters since 2004. The most current version in the United States is a yellow canister (but there are also black canisters and silver canisters out there). All the canisters should have a weight written or printed on the canister in grams. This weight is the weight of the canister full, without the protective cap on it. Weigh your canister and compare it to the weight written on the canister. If it within a couple grams of the written weight, you should be good.

So if he has a Black 475 gram canister in his pack, can he put a yellow 585 gram canister in there. I guess our questions is "are the lighter, black canisters interchangeable with the yellow, heaver canister?"

Yes exactly what this ^^^ says..

Yes, if your Black 475 gram canister is the one that goes in a dual airbag, then it is interchangeable with the yellow 585 gram canister.

Maybe this will help:
The following three canisters are interchangeable and work fine on a dual airbag ABS pack:

The following canister is NOT interchangeable with the above canisters:
