? about electric start conversion

Will the starter and associated electric start parts on an 06 Rev 800 swap over to an 04? I realize I need the solenoid/fuse setup on the battery but is everything else there in the 04 harness etc. to just plug and play? Can the starter be installed without removing or lifting the motor (bottom bolt) via the small plug in the bellypan. I am new too doo so any advise/tips etc. would be greatly appreciated. thanks rickster

I can't answer your questions but I can share one thing about the 06. When you take the electric start off it won't run until you switch out what they call the configuration wiring harness from electric start to the manual start. (I see this post has been here for awhile so you maybe already know this but if I can help with this part of it I would be happy to.)

the wiring harness is the same for electric and non start electric start models the difference is the plug that reroutes power to the brain box so the rer button starts when the engine is not running .If you transfer the plug that comes of the electric start sled to the 04 it should work. the parts interchange through all the revs starters are the same. Starter can be changed without pulling the engine. There is a plug under the sway bar so you can access the lower stater bolt.

I found it easier to use a separate switch to a solenoid and wire it with out changing any wiring. you have to find 12vdc red/white to charge the battery..

Thanks for the advise. My daughter is home from college now so we will start on this project. It is her sled and dad makes the kids help out with maintenance, updates, etc. Besides she has really skinny fingers and can reach in where dad can't. She also doesn't wear bifocals!!!!! rickster
