AATAC by Holtzman...product input?

Came across a few posts in another thread discussing the AATAC from Holtzman Engineering. Anyone have a product review on these out west in the big mountains? Our terrain varies 5,000ft to over 10,000ft (in one day!) and I really want to know if these work!? Have gone through 5 motors on 5 different sleds last two years and jetting seems to be one of many possible issues. Feedback w/ where you ride and what elevations:confused:...

I run the veri-flow and love it, the atacc seem to be a good product you just have to make sure it is installed correct (one on the big problems with them) and jet for your coldest and lowest elevation and the rest is done for you

Put the AATAC on my 03 skidoo 800 non DPM original set up for around 2,000' riding michigan been several places out west with it running anywhere from 6000' to 10,500' never changed anything setup wise and never had any problems sled ran good at any elevation or temp always ran just a little on the fat side which was ok with me seemed safer and cheaper than paying for the heli lift out of the woods from being too lean definately seemed better than the factory DPM for me I would definately give it two thumbs up also had great product support from Barry on the install.

I ran the ATACC's on two identical 800 Edge sleds. It worked grat on the totally stock sled. Once I did the pipe, can, intake mods I couldn't get it to work well on the modded sled. My vote is, awesome on a stocker, I jetted it for 7000 ft (home) and rode 10-13,000, it was laways crisp and pulled perfectly. I took it off the modded sled and it worked much better just jetted for riding altitude.

I've been running one on my MM700 for about 5 years now. It's jetted for 1500 ft and still runs great at Cooke City. Haven't had to do a thing to it.

Ran one on a 04 AC 900 for approx 6000 miles without issue. Set it up when I first got the sled and ran it the entire time. Did a fresh crank, top end, porting, shaved head, single pipe and air box mod at about 4000 miles. it was still running great when I sold it. Rode with a couple people that had the same sled without the ATACC and my plugs always were perfect.

Get it set and don't touch it...:)

I have the manual version of the ATACC...VariFlow.

I got the multirange version and have run it on a stock 800rmk, ported/twin piped 800 RMK, and full mod 1155 PSI twin. Never had a problem with it.

Love it. Works great.

Set it up with just a couple rides and I tested it through the full range of my riding season from cold and dry powder January to hot humid June.

I would never run without one on a carbed sled.

Atacc was a nightmare for my first year, but when I found & fixed the loose hose it ran awsome. This is for a 03 900 Cat, I'd do it again.

Have one on a 01 MM 700
I would not pipe this sled without one. I wasted an entire season trying to jet after installing triple pipes. Put an attacc on, jetted the sled, and left it alone.
I have not changed it since and ride most often between 2000' and 6500'

Have on on a 2000 MM700 with SLP pipes jetted for 2500' at home works great --Snowy, Tog, and Big Horns. Did have a pilot jet problem but got that taken care of.

I had to go a step up in my pilot.
I also raised the needle (dropped the clip) one notch.

I also have a shim kit just in case I need a finer tune.

with all of this said, i think that my buddy still believes its easier to just swap the carb rack out. and really, it shouldn't be all that hard. just pull the throttle cable, choke cable, fuel lines, and a wire or two right? i don't have them sitting in front of me.

and i guess, we usually clean our carbs twice a year as part of a preventative maintenance program. unless one cloggs up or something (rare) then its more. he figures, he will clean his carbs for here and then clean his carbs for high elevation. that way, when he goes to switch them out for our wyoming trip, those ones are already clean. then, when he gets back, he will clean both sets again. that way, the high alt ones will be ready for next year and the low alt ones are good to go too.

might sound like a lot of extra work, but i would rather do it if i have some spare time, then have to do it on the side of the road.

Had one on an 04 ProX2 700. It was modded with pipe etc. Had it here in wisconsin, and numerous trips out west elevations up to 10+. Ran flawlessly. Did run it a lil fat like a previous poster, for sure would recommend it for any carb seld running different elevations....just me .02!

03 Viper

I have the ATACC on my Viper and the only complaint I have is that when the under hood temps get real high the lines fill with fuel and it loads up while ideling and can be a son of a gun to get started again should you shut it off untill it cools down . The other 99% of the time it works great. I don't vary in elevation like you do but as far as temp and the few thousand feet we do vary the plugs are always where they need to be. Keep in mind the problems I have may be sled specific and not be a problem with your ride. The product does a great job of doing what it is intended to do.

I have a Vari-Flow on my '03 Pro-X 800 with SLP pipe/can, SLP Intake, flowrites, V-Force 3 reeds. My baseline setup is for 1000 ft. and -20 F here in the flatlands of South Dakota. I've rode anywhere from 1000 to 13,000 ft. and -20 F to 40 degrees farenheit and the ATACC always works perfectly. I run my needles in the 3 clip at low elevation, at high elevation I run them in the 2nd clip(from the top).
