My choice is the newly designed Timbersled Mtn. Tamer. I have paired it with EXIT x1 shocks as I feel they are the best in the business. I have everything mounted on a set of custom IceAge 'bomber' rails. I've only had the turbo on for 2 rides, so I will be reporting back on my experiences and comparisons to other setups I come across. Under stock power, swapping out the stock skid with this setup was an incredible improvement. The stock skid can be greatly improved with better shocks, but is still very limited. The new Timbersled setup is very beefy and offers many adjustments for fine tuning to an individuals riding style. My favorite function is the coupling adjustment knob. With the knob unthreaded all the way, the sled will lift the skis with ease which is great for general boondocking and busting through creeks or crossing logs that are just under the snow. I have also found this to be the best setup for me when I do have to ride a rough section of trail. When the knob is threaded all the way in, the sled is a different more controlled animal. Ski lift is minimal, which is functional and ideal for steep climbs and trying to get up that gnarly hill that your buddies have trenched out and you need all the traction you can get. This adjustment can be made in literally 15 seconds. I was curious if snow and ice buildup would limit the knob from turning, but I have not had a problem with that so far. I have around 350 miles currently on this suspension and am very happy with every aspect.
