A warning before putting on a clutch vent!

Before I even picked up my sled I bought a vent kit that goes on right over top of the primary clutch(as pictured). On the first ride I noticed that it was melting snow and allowing ice to push through the pre filter and inside the panel. The second ride it got so bad that it caused my belt to get wet and start slipping on a hard left powder turn.

I wish I didn't touch it and now I have to plug the holes I drilled in my panel to stop the ice from coming through! Any suggestions on plugging it?

leave the vents on and block them in the back wiht a liscense plate or maybe a thin piece of plastic/rubber

I was thinking about getting some more of the black rivets so I can remove a few rivets and slip a something like that between the vent and the panel then rivet it back down. I think thats going to be the fix.

I would try putting a diffrent prefilter on or a screen on the insde. You can use spray addhesive to glue in on the inside. What brand are those vents you used.

Please let us know what vent mfg it was so noone else has this problem. I would ask that manufacture to buy me a replacement side panel.

They are Mo Flow vents.

They have pre filter on them. Its not that the snow gets through either. The heat from the clutches melts the snow on the outside of the vent. Due to the vent being on on the side of the panel and so low it pushes the ice through the pre filter during powder turns.

I honestly don't think any amount of screen will fix this issue. Polaris clutching runs cooler than cat or doo anyhow so I'll just block the vents off and ride my sled.

I put the Fire-n-Ice center side and front center and chose not to put the lower fronts on mine and have had no problem with mine. I realize these vents may not get as much flow past the clutch, but have a lower chance of snow ingestion with these locations. But I will add I was concerned about it with all the talk on this site so I purchased the Pre-filter material for the clutch side straight from Fire-n-Ice. It came with pre-cut material and the rivets for this side. I am going to hold off putting it on at this time cause what I have is working for me with no snow ingestion.

last season we rode a certain valley..have a 19 mile corridore we have to ride in on to access the riding area..it goes right up a creek bed which stays open most of the way all winter..needless to say we normally have to skip the creek 12+ times each way..my dragon last year ended up with the inside of the clutch vent ducttaped for the season..never had an issue with the tape pulling off..just clean the plastic really good before installing the tape on the inside....
