A Serious Threat & a Seriously Misconstruing Organization!

There is definitely some erratic behavior out there but its obviously not only in Kangaroo rats.
"take back our lands" I guess they used to own it eh?
"millions of acres under assault" So the little patch of wilderness these folks live on has some how not been assaulted?
I think CARB has bigger things to deal with than ThrillCraft. Like maybe the air around their cities!!!
There must be a lot of sleds in L.A. cause last time I was there I could hardly see across the street.
I just did a little math and the total tonnage of pollutants emitted by ThrillCraft was just slightly higher than the total weight of fuel consumed by said craft!!!!!
What these folks are smoking is causing more damage to our air than anyThrillCraft would even dream of.

Lol!

better get rid of Nascar, Baja 500 and even all of them Lear Jets too!:D

Extremists!

the ultimate irony is talking to extremest subaru driver who thinks this crap is gospel. The same person who buys a scooter to save the enviroment, you know the ones that are so popular now, under 50cc 2 stroke so they dont have to meet emission standards. Still running on 70s tec. The same ones who thought it would be great to have wolfs reintroduced.
I cant believe how many there are around here.

The Foundation for Deep Ecology was funded by Douglas Tompkins, founder of the "Esprit" and "The North Face" clothing companies. Tompkins and his wife live reclusive lives in a Chilean nature preserve, purchased by another of their tax-exempt foundations.

http://www.activistcash.com/foundation.cfm?did=104

His wife was CEO of Patagonia Clothing company.

They bought 2.2 million acres of swamp in Patagonia Chile. The foundation has at least 52 Million in the bank. They give to groups like the Sea Shepherd, the guys running around ramming Japan Whaling vessels. And, Greenpeace.

They funded the book about Thrillcraft. They partnered with Wildlands CPR, and Center for Biological Diversity, to distribute the book.

So, think about this next time your looking at a North Face, Esprit, or Patagonia, clothing. The profits from this over hyped krap, is used to shut us down.

It doesn't have to be true, greenies will absorb any personal opinion their handlers feed them.

T

So if this guy/organization is putting out bogus information - can our supporting agency sue him/them? In other words, hold them accountable for their statements and perhaps decimation of a group?

That's what I was thinking - class action lawsuit.

We've had Greenies making up stuff at Lolo, saying the sleds trash their ski trails and it's simply not true.

I hope they are also targeting every airport in the nation for noise pollution and it's devastation on the animal population so they ban air travel - then what will Al Gore do as he taxis around the World in his Gulf Stream on a regular basis instead of using teleconferencing or other technology that saves the planet?

Wade, do you (or anyone else) know exactly how many acres in the US are Wilderness now? In 1999, the Republican Study Committee said it was 1 in 4 acres, but that was ten years ago and now the Obamabots have passed the giant land grab omnibus wilderness bill first couple of months he was in office.

I had to turn off the dribble in that video! What a bunch of biased, unfounded, and complete BS! I cannot stand listening to their ridiculous claims! I would be happy to debate them anytime, anywhere! They look upon us as a bunch of one toothed hillbilly idiots! They win if we continue to do very little or nothing! Unfortunately, this "green" movement we have in our country gives them a lot of ears willing to listen. Most of these people sit in their large inner city homes and offices and rarely or never travel to any remote, off road location.

There's 109.5 Million acres of wilderness.

20% of the national forest's 193 Million Acres is now Wilderness. The balance being BLM, national parks, mounuments, wildlife, and such.

Another 10%, about, of the National Forest is closed for RWA, WSA, and a host of local closures. Basically, another 10% is ran like wilderness, as far as we are concerned.

If the Roadless thing happens, this could easily jump to 50% of the National Forest ran as Wilderness, or just plain Wilderness.

Good find PowderGirl, I am afraid that the world is full of nut jobs like this, and in most cases these people are not afraid to lie to spread their hate agenda.

Maybe a group of us could put together a website called "Thrillcraft Facts" (www.thrillcraftfacts.com) and literally take every statement on StopThrillcraft.com and counter it with FACT? Maybe a video producer or a couple of them could put together a nice video protraying familes (old, young, male, female, gay, straight) enjoying a wonderful outing on snowmbiles in the beautiful winter scape, dirt bikes going through a forest or jeeps in the desert who stop along the way to check out some wildlife or beautiful vistas along the way that no one on foot could get too.... just show every positive aspect of these sports along with how little damage responsible recreators actually do. Depicts maps of where we are allowed to ride so it shows how much literally is off limits to us. Show them who most of the riders are, how we do have respect of our lands and for everyone using them, how we come together to help those in need while enduring a hard time (Animal comes to mind), how we value our time spent with our familes like we do because we cannot take 9 or 75 year old 20 miles into the backcountry to enjoy our land....

We need someone to fund something like this in our favor.... I'm tired of being made out as the bad guy and being focused on as a problem when we are truely not a problem. We are only made a problem because of agencies like this that pray on unknowing, gullable people who live in over populated areas and allow their emotions to be played and brains to be pumped full of miscontrued or false information that they fail to verify themselves.

I would be willing to help pay for the domain name, making of the website, finding scholarly facts with concrete evidence, i could even host the website on my server for free if needed.

Need to help protect our riding areas as a group, one person will not be heard. We need to come together and make one hell of a statement to these greenies.

You know you can count me in. I don't have a lot of time these days, but I've been arguing these "facts" for over 10 years now.

I think that would be a really great idea, and I'd try to help out in any way I could.

I'm pretty sure nobody who rally's there subi off road buys into this..some of us even have sleds ;).. sigh.. I miss my WRX. With that said, what a load of crap. We've got a similar tactic being used here to close off land that is to close to some upper class development. What they are saying "it's bad for the environment, conflict exists..ect ect. " "what they really mean is.. I don't want a bunch of sledders next to my 3 mil$ 3rd home" :(

Clueless

My favorite part of that video was when the guy says " Paper Tigers, alot of roar but not much claw " I bet he sat up all night trying to come up with that saying! Laughed my a$$ off. Talk about a bunch of wacked out greenies! Wonder if he realizes that all that crap he is blowin out his a$$ could be polluting the air and causing severe damage to his precious Kangaroo Rats:D I will never be able to get back those 17 minutes of my life I wasted listening to his mindless dribble....By his standards wind should be banned as well because it causes dust and therefore adds to the problem too! I do however like the title " Thrillcraft ".....Very cool, think I will have a sticker made for my sled that says that:D

It will be a sad day for man kind when we cause the kangaroo rat to go extinct from our excessive thrillcrafting...

If this isn't enough to keep you from riding, I dont know what is.
