Good post. Maybe that will make a few people realize that conservatives are not old fashioned and paranoid, we just like our Republic based government. If you want a king to "take care of you" just move somewhere else.

The problem is the people have allready figured out that they can elect into government someone who will take from the government coffers and give to the people. Thus moving this country into a democratic state. The transition has happened (OBAMA) and it is only a matter of time before the government collapses and we are spun into oligarcy. I don't think it is possible to get the vote's to put the right people back into office that will return us to a true republic state.
the masses can argue night and day, but the reference to our jury system is an excellent example of making you open your eyes. my fear is that we are adopting a midset of 51% is all it takes to be right. as seen by the electoral college.

Just a thought, i'm thinking the problem is that laws are passed by a majority vote. by voting in a law or bill is how the govt will increase taxes or take money for rich and give to poor and such, and increase the percentage of the people living of the teet of the hard working. If it took a Younaminoius(sp?) vote to pass a law it would be almost impossible for laws to be passed. We allready have too many laws anyway, who needs more.
Reinstatement of State's rights would be an obvious solution. The state's don't want to see their power reduced, and there's no way 50 different groups are going to go along with a federal group. Completely re-electing Congress seems like another solution.
Surely, these stupid stimulus packages, and even welfare itself, are somehow against the constitution law. Hasn't anyone posed the questions of legality of the entire mess? FDR and the great depression started this mess, and it will end in a bankrupt government, and who knows what. Some way to help people. I'm even mad at Bush for kicking off the latest stimulus mess.

i totally agree. when does taxation without representation become applicable??????? the people did not want the first porkulus package and they dont want this one.before obama gets out of office we will be paying 60-70% in taxes!

You know, the truth is probably that Jefferson and Hamilton worried about it throughout their lives. Basically, someone's been worried about it, since before the country existed, and up to today.
