A Father loses his Daughter in a Snowmobile Accident

"A 5 year old girl is dead, and her father remains in hospital after a snowmobile crash just metres from the family's home in Strathcona County, near Edmonton.

The 36-year-old driver of the sled lost control and slammed into tree. Both were not wearing helmets at the time.

The snowmobile struck a tree and both he and his daughter ended up being thrown off the machine and the daughter struck one of the trees.

Investigators say the girl died at the scene from head injuries. Her father was rushed to hospital in serious condition. Police say the man is recovering in hospital Monday with non-life-threatening injuries

Very sad for sure :( This very thought crossed my mind just after Christmas because I had my daughter on my sled with me. It was a very short trail ride, but I got to thinking about the "what ifs" and how devastating it would be...

Very sad to hear. You cannot imagine the hell that family is in right now. Godspeed little one. Prayers to the family, they are going to need many.
