Another year is coming to an end and another avalanche season is off to an early start. Once again we are busy doing our best to provide the tools you need to stay on top of the Greatest Snow on Earth. This is a community effort, supported by the U.S. Forest Service, the State of Utah, Salt Lake County, Ski Utah, our business sponsors like Polaris, Arctic Cat, SnowBigDeal, TriCity Performance, Black Diamond, Backcountry Access,Big Pine Sports, Ortovox, Twisted Turbos, and the public. Donations from backcountry users like you provide about half of the funding needed to keep the Utah Avalanche Center running. Your donations allow us to provide tools like the website, the beacon parks, and the Are You Beeping signs. Plus they put gas in Craig's sled and pay for his haircuts.
This is the part where we ask for your help. We count on donations like yours. If you use the local Avalanche Advisories, Mountain Weather or Current Conditions pages, or if you think it is important to have a local avalanche center tuned in to local needs, please consider making a donation to the Friends of the Utah Avalanche Center. We know times are tough, but can you think of another non-profit that provides you as much direct benefit?
It's easy to donate. You can mail a check to the Friends of the Utah Avalanche Center, P.O. Box 521353, Salt Lake City, UT 84152-1353 or you can go to www.utahavalanchecenter.org, click on the Donate link in the top menu bar, and donate via Paypal or credit card. As a way of saying thanks, we'll send you a logo tshirt or Kleen Kanteen ® insulated steel water bottle for a donation of $75 or more - just include a note telling us which you would like with your check (and shirt size) or in the comments section of the online payment form with your mailing address.
