I'm not too experienced, but I did do this last year. Yes you have to pound that out. I believe there was a cir clip (not sure if that's what it's called) in there. take that out and then you have to pound it out. It was a pain for me, not sure of the best way to do it.
 
I have pounded it out but pounding damages it. You should build a tool that mates to the inner race to push or pound on. But even with that in my case of powder coated a arms I end up chipping the finish
Pressing with the proper tool is the way to go
 
This same posting appears to be on here at least 3 times. I think this question got answered on one of the other posts . . .?
 
remove the snap ring and press it out. easy to do in a vice with some press fittings or just use some sockets out of your tool box, 22mm and 17mm i believe will work. if you have a little 12 ton press that will make it even easier.
 
IMO... buy a new ball joint.... as said above... pounding can ruin it and pressing often times can loosen it a bit and make it sloppy.

Are those damaged or are you putting on aftermarket (or both).

If not damaged and you plan to sell them... leave the ball joint in and buy new ones.
