Snowmobiler dies in Eagle County; autopsy planned

VAIL (AP) - A 62-year-old man has died while snowmobiling south of Eagle, but the cause is still under investigation.

Eagle County Coroner Kara Bettis identified the victim as Mike Claussner of Eagle. An autopsy is planned.

Authorities say Claussner and a friend were snowmobiling in the White River National Forest Sunday when the friend called authorities at about 3:40 p.m. to report an emergency.

Members of the Vail Mountain Rescue Group say that when they arrived they found Claussner's snowmobile on its side, but few other details are available.
