'99 summit 600 trouble

Been having trouble with brother-in-law's '99 summit 600. It started running bad (as if on one cylinder)- one plug was hotter than the other. Tried different/new plugs, it acted exactly the same. Then it died altogether. Very wet plugs. I completely cleaned both carbs, and it started right up, but started running bad 30 seconds later. It is absolutely puking fuel out of the altitude compensator vent hose (I think that's what it is; it's the one that goes nowhere). The sled was smoking so bad I couldn't see in the garage. Plugs are wetter than the atlantic; it seems obvious that it's grossly overfueling. Sled has 4500 km, stock as a rock, new fuel pump.
I was wondering if it could have something to do with the compensator. I don't know what other fuel related issues I could be dealing with. What about electrical? Were there any known weak electrical points with these sleds? I know sometimes an electrical problem will disguise itself as a fuel/air problem. I'm not very familiar with ski-doo (hence the altitude compensator question). We're kind of bummed because it was going to be his first trip to the mountains, and we were going to leave in 5 days. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Check to make sure that all the DPM hoses are connected. A good dealer should be able to supply you with a connection detail. Also clean all the DPM electrical contacts, and fill them with dielectric grease to prevent corosion. Could be a bad DPM connection, either pressure hose or electrical; or it could be a bad DPM module. I put over 9000km on a 99 600 summit, but it awlays ran perfect. Hope others have some more ideas for ya.

Thanks, I figured it out. It was just a loose float needle retaining clip. The needle would fall through it and bind, not letting the float go up. Appreciate the reply. It's good to know.

That would do it. I have also sean the float mounts on a set of Kehan carbs wear out, it was on a 600RMK and it had the same effect because the floats and needle could jump around.
