98 xc 700 no thermostat?

They didn't come with a thermostat. There used to be a thermostat kit but it's not made anymore. I tried to find one last year but nobody was able to find one or even come up with the old part number. Mine runs great after it warms up. Takes a good 5 minutes or so though before it's even ride-able. No top end blubber on mine either. Are your main jets clean or big enough?

I have seen a seller on Ebay recently that was selling the T-stat bypass kits for 99.95 buy it now.

You don't need the T-stat in that sled. Just let it warm up well before you head out. Put your hand in the tunnel and touch the coolers, when they're warm/hot you're good to go. If you have a blubber after the sled is warm it's not because of engine temp. You should look elsewhere. Please expand on your blubber problem. Good luck.

would not having a thermostat be the cause of a top end blubber? Its like its not getting warm.

The problem is in the Kehien carbs not the lack of a thermostat. The burble was a problem many experienced. A boost bottle can help reduce this problem as can going to rack style carbs like later Model Year sleds went to. I believe the 99's or 2000's
came with rack style mukuni's you could by a set of racks and jet to the 99/2000 XC or RMK specs and have yourself a problem free good running sled.

As for the thermo. I dont run one on my 04 motor either. Start the sled up. Go inside put all your stuff on which usually ends up taking about 15 min then go ride the sled. No reason why you cant wait 15 min to ride... Thermostat or not Id wait at least that long with any sled, no sense risking a cold seize because of impatience.

The 99 RMK700 used the Keihin carbs as well along with ACCS. The 99 XC700 and SKS700 also used the Keihin carbs but with no ACCS. The 99 XCR700 did use the TM38 carbs.
The Keihin carbs did have a burble around 6000 rpm. It was hard to tune it out of them. I believe some had success with changing to a 1371J jet needle. If the burble is at midrange then you could try that. Get hold of sled_guy on here. I believe he did a lot of playing with the Keihins.

I actually put my 98 700 motor in a 2002 xc edge chassis late last season. I used the 800 rack carbs and still have the same problem with the blubber. If I pin the throttle at any time from a dead stop or from a slow speed it will blubber. sometimes I will let off then hit it again 2 or 3 time then it will be gone. But if I slow down again it start all over. I can hold it wide open and it will eventualy burn through the blubber after a few seconds also. This motor has always done this ever since I've had it (5 years) It seems to get worse every year.

Imagine this... flyin down the trail slow down for a corner then hit the throttle and blubber then I will burn through it then slow down for the next corner and hit the throttle and blubber.
