98 summit x 670 crank case help

Can anyone tell me if there is a way of tell if the crank case on a 670 is the HO or the regular 670 case. I think the last rebuilder of the engine in my 670 x might have put a standard case on it instead of the HO. Just wondering if there is a way to tell the difference without tearing it down. (The builder put standard pistons in it instead of the HO so that is why I am worried).

Old cases have internal timing pick up. X cases have the external pick up. Also the water pump on the 1st gen 670's are different. If he put in non x pistons with out changing the head u are going to have problems.

Yes I have problems. The top end is blown up. I will have to redo it. I was just wanting to know if I was going to need to tear it all the way down and fix the bottom end again as well.
