98 99 summit 670x question

For anyone that remembers these sleds, I need to find out if the MPEM ie (ICM, brain box) can be interchanged between the two sleds. I know that they are different part #'s from Skidoo. I know that they changed the timing curve mapping on the 99. The 99 also has a different DPM manifold system and different carbs. Does this change the way the computer thinks and adjusts. I see that the wire connection coming from the DPM is different but it still has the same colors of 4 wires. End result, I have a 98 that has a dead MPEM and have access to a 99 unit without the $500 price tag that Skidoo wants for the 98 unit. Will the 99 unit work???

I don't think i'd hurt to try it. I used 97 or 98 gauges in my 99X (just something ive swapped...) and their identical, evan though the speedo dosn't really work. Give the thread a bit and youl find the answer your looking for...

I tired it and it made the sled run but not correctly. It would just start to rev up then miss then rev up and stuter. I would not waste my money on a 99 box get the 98 box. This was my experience.

They are not interchangable, sorry.

I have a 99 670x turbo. I switched the 99 box to a 98 but also switched the rotory valve to the 98 also. This is what made my sled live so it should work for you. I would change the valve plate too.

there is a guy parting out a 98 x on e bay you might get one there
