97 xlt, deep lug track??

i know the original 9 tooth drive axle and cogs can do a 1.25 track, but what can a 8 tooth cog axle be able to handle? with and with out relocating the front tunnel cooler?

I had a '95 xlt rmk that ran a 1.5" stock track, and I have put 1.75" in those chassies with the stock 9 tooth drivers. Maybe someone could chime in with the math but I think you could get a 2" in with 8 tooth drivers. Not positive though.

8 tooth drivers will allow you to run a 2" paddle track. done this a number of times. only thing you will have to do is drill out the tunnel protectors inside the tunnel, they will hit the lugs otherwise. good luck

My 95 XLT came with the 1 1/2" paddle track and had the 8 tooth driver. I did end up replacing that original one with the 9 tooth drivers and had clearance but I don't think that it would have handled anything beyond that. Still had some clearance between front cooler and track but in certain snow conditions (wet/heavy) there was probably a loss in power from trying to force so much snow through such a small opening.
