hello, couple qs-first what recomended oil mix should i be running, slightly mod-pipes reeds, nothing major-currently mixing 32-1, second , sled runs good for a while then starts to bog, mostly on the low end, sometimes its so bad you cant get to the high end. carbs look great and there has been no changes to this sled in 10 years, its always ran great. im thinking maybe reeds or a temp issue. any suggestions would be helpful--thank you

32:1 is good for the mtns, else 40:1 for the trails. Re. the bog it could be many things; your primary spring could be the culprit. If clutching has not been maintained in ten years I'd start there. You could also have a lean bog going on; if your needles are all the way down, raise them a notch ad see if it'll get up on the mains then. A failing stator can also cause misfire and act like a bog when the sled warms up... more info?... jmho good luck

this sled might sit and cool off and run great, then not so great. it might start off bad and it might start off great. mostly bad. clutch spring could be weak but that would be more consistant. today for example the sled ran like poo and than sat for 20 min and chewed up the mountain. then ran ok for awile and sat started off at 80% and slowly went down to 50%.pto side at one point was cold while stator side was hot, changed plug and still no better. spark was there, not under compression for sure but out of cylinder it sparks. thinking maybe reed, but the stator suggestion makes sense, how does heat affect stator? this sled has consistantly ran great but this year has had this problem, carbs are clean, adjusted as they have been for 10 years dont think this is set point issue, but more of a what is going wrong issue. agian thank you for all advice.

It could be a faulty spark plug cap or wire. I've seen them cause problems like you have. If you have never changed them it might be a good place to start.

Since the problem is intermitant both ways Id eliminate some other things before I looked to the stator. Id check out your plug caps first like retiredpop says they may be bad and not making connection. Ive seen stators do wierd things though so it cant 100 percent be ruled out as the problem
