97 Polaris 500 fan question

I bought my son this sled and ran good for two rides now when u o it runs ine then starts to load up and just bogs when u give it the gas and doesn't move then finally u can get it to move and it will be really boggy then it suddenly cleans right up and runs just fine then it happens again had a mechanic adjust the carbs and clean them maybe should just take back to him but want figure I out myself regathering than pay more money any advice would be appreciated thanks

Looks like a prime learning opportunity for you and your son.

Tear into it and figure out what is wrong, there isn't too much that is overly complicated with this thing. I imagine your son will be ecstatic knowing he helped make it run.

I would take the carbs off. Remove the float bowls and replace the needle (inlet valve) on each carb. I think one or both may not be seating properly at times so the float bowl overfills sometimes.
