96 VMax XT Ski Skin Install

A buddy has the 96 XT and is replacing the stock ski skins/protectors that come on them. He is having a heck of a time getting them slid into the grooves. Hoping someone on here can give me a couple ideas/tricks to make the install go a little smoother. By looking at the ski, doesn't look like it should be too difficult but have wrestled with many other tasks that were to be easy for the novice.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Spray the grooves and edges of ski skins heavily with silicone spray.

Thanks SD Coyote. will give that a go - we are supposed to get together Tuesday to give it a try. Will keep the silicone spray handy. Other thoughts??
