93 chev PU 4.3 V-6 any opinions?

I have an opportunity to buy a real clean 93 chev 1500 PU with 100k miles on it. It is a 2wd Auto with the 4.3 V-6 motor. Anyone have any opinions on fuel mileage and the motor in general? Your opinions and experiences will be appreciated. Thanks ibn advance.

4.3 is reliable enough...nothing special. Fuel mileage....same thing, nothing wild should be just over 20 highway

One of our work trucks has 297k (as of last winter), it's still going good. Uses some oil, and not a speed demon by any stretch, but it won't leave you stranded.

I just pulled a 4.3L out of my 1993 S-10 with 120k on it, ran perfect other than the puff of white smoke upon startup (valve seats).

You could always go the route I went.....I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

350 is always a good choice especially a vortec. what kind of mileage do you get with that?

It's actually a 2002 5.3L out of a Chevy Avalanche. Fuel injection is the only way to go but its not a cheap swap by any means.

Mileage = I think one set of rear tires for every 3 tanks of fuel :D Honestly, I don't have solid numbers yet as I'm still trying to get the speedo calibrated. It should pull 20-22 mpg for average driving. Others who have done similar swaps are reporting 25 mpg highway. I'm running a 3.73 rear in it, rpms are at 2300-2400 or so at 70mph with a 25.4" tire height.

Thanks for the responses . I took the thing for a drive and it had a low end vibration and acted as if it was laboring too much so i passed on it. When i get the opportunity i will drive another one to see if it feels the same, this one made me nervous.

A friend of mine loves the 4.3. I did the machine work, balanced it. He towes 2 sleds and reves the hell out of it. I mean 6000 rpm in the hills. On the highway he gets 20 mpg. He purchased a new chevy but sleds with his older one. Personaly I like a v8, cant argue with v6, 4.3.
