925cc tundra??

PLEASE HELP!! I ride a 300 fan!! I am going to mod out a new tundra? Has anyone ever done it yet? The chassis has lots of room under hood. I would like to fill it up!! I can't find any rf chassis mods anywhere on the net. Info or ideas would be great!!

Freakstyle has been running around for a couple years now. Sweet sled.

The reason I want to build, is, I want a reliable sled with serious power that is extemely light. On paper this sled would send most any mountain sled home with tears. Especially if I leave the tundra decals on. lol.

You're kidding right? just putting a 925 motor in the thing will bring it right up to XP weight if not heavier, without the suspension or deep snow capability of the XP chasis....

No, not kidd'n. On paper it will weigh less than 4 bills. Engine weight is 75 lbs. But front suspension is much lighter stock. Plus, the suspesion (rear), is already off an xp. Other factors are the u cooler and no front cooler. Chassis to chassis stock with no motor in them, the tundra is lighter. This was measured with same rear suspensions and tracks. The tundra (or freestyle chassis) is lighter in the front end. Will be interesting to see how I come out when project is complete. I plan on replacing other parts with carbon to make it even lighter! BIG HP, NO WEIGHT, this is what people are looking for.

I've looked into this... alot

The RF platform is a nice light package IF you leave the 550 F in it... Add the Aaen pipe/can, get Dynamo Joe to set you up with clutching and some custom work...

a custom set of Cromo a-arms, some Floats on the front, Timbersled suspension, a lightweight tunnel with built in snow eliminators (with the fan.. no heat exchanger), lightweight seat, strip out the foam, have wildchild build you a X-style steering post (or a Park/tundra LT steering post), lightweight bars and riser, the new 146 track, extros, make some aluminum spindles delete the heavy headlight assy, run some Slydogs skis and you should have a 380 lb mountain ripper!!

Ported and piped, the 550 is good for another 20 hp... 85 hp or so.

If you add a Liqud cooled motor... you add coolant weight, cooler weight etc...you wont be much lighter than an XP stock and definately not lighter than 400 lbs

A well clutched light RF would rock but in a LC sled, you'd be ahead of the game in a rev or a XP.

If you keep it simple... great sled if you keep this in mind.... go for the liquid 800 or bigger and you'd be better served in another chassis

Dont get me wron... I'm all for the underdog!

If this sled is yours it is bad a#@!! Nice trick look! This is the sled that specialty did not to long ago. Thank you for the pics. My 08 tundra weighs 380 stock with 300 fan. According to paper the frankenstein project I am building will come out weighing 420 with stock headlights, and everything else thats heavy that is stock!! (arms, panels, bars, seat, god awful tail light!!) So, yes I would agree with you that it isn't much lighter than a stock xp, except it has about 100 more hp out of the 925. Possibilities for hp are about as open as under the hood! Don't get me wrong the xp as a serious sled for serious riders. As is the black freestyle you sent pics of....

one thing to take into consideration tundra is the larger more powerful sleds have upper and lower a-arms i see big problems in your future with just the stock set up.

Old Skool-Negative on the stock set up. Front end will be modified, but still only one a-arm. I can't see to big of a problem because BRP put a 4-stroke 800 in this same chassis. This engine is heavier than a 800 2-stroke. I think the only reason they make 2 a-arms on sleds is to keep the ski flat while going over bumps. Otherwise the ski will camber when going over bumps with only 1 a-arm. If the ski cambers some while turning it is a lot easier to tip on its side. For instance sidehilling, or carving is much easier on a sled with only one a-arm. There could be other problems I have not thought of though. Please share you ideas..

tundra i caught your other thread and from what i can see no problems.i watched crueheads sled in action and it is very impressive and looks to cool.anyone that seen it had to take a double look includind myself.i climbed a hill against him and he made me look bad.but we talked to him for awile and he is a nice guy and knows what he is talking about.and boy is it loud also.

2 different sleds in those pics. 1st one is the one Specialty built, its got a stock engine with an NPP pipe designed for the stock 300.

2nd is my dad's sled. Split Second engine work and NPP pipe and cooker can. It made just a tick over 80 on NPP's dyno, a 20hp increase on 91 octane. Didn't need to do much to the clutching as we're pulling another 1000rpm over stock, about 6800rpm. Still really conservative. The timing starts falling off at around 7500 or so. Its quite a tough little sled and fun to throw around.

The ski's are light for a reason...they're hollow. Don't tighten your runners too much or you'll pull them through. Trying to find some other ski that will work nicely for ours and not weigh too much.

its so ugly and pointless moding a freak style or tundra haha you'll be made fun for riding it anyway no matter how well it'll go just start with something worthy

I was going to go with a Phazer II...! But then I saw a Cheetah...! Then they made the xp, so I decided to go with Invader...But could not afford it, so I settled for the Tundra....lol...
