900 - Tricks to Bleeding Oil

So I just recently pulled my first 900 engine to replace a leaking fuel rail. I've got everything pretty much back together. No problems whatsoever except getting the inside washer on the SLP torque arm; what a PITA...would've been alot easier if I'd removed the primary clutch....finally got it by hanging the washer on a magnetic screwdriver.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has any tricks to bleeding the oil with minimal mess while the engine is in the chassis.

Thanks in advance!

When I pulled my oil pump and replaced some of the oil lines and oil filter, I topped up the oil tank, bled the pump using the screw and attached the oil lines to the pump only leaving the other ends unattached. Left them unattached overnight(until hoses were full) then attached the loose ends to the engine.

Ive had the best luck this way:
Bleed screw until no bubbles are appearing, this takes very little time. Then use some wire or a coat hanger to pull the oil pump arm to the full throttle position while the sled is idling, you should almost immediately see gobs of smoke from the exhaust. It's always a good idea to mix your fuel tank to 50/1 to be sure for the first tank, just carry some spare plugs!
Good luck, Dan
