900 top end

Hello I am new to this forum and I am looking for some info on rebuilding the top end in my 2005 900 switchback. The sled is working well but I want to install new pistons, gaskets and o-rings. Has anyone used the weisco top end kit on this engine before?
I had the engine out of the sled last week and when I put it back in the check engine light flashes 5 times and now the reverse it not working. I know the flash is the exhaust sensor but I can’t get the reverse to work any help would be good. Thanks

I have been researching the top end question a bit and come with the conclusion that OEM 06' pistons are the way to go on the top end rebuild. I would do it before you fry the originals as replating the jugs is about $300 a piece. As for the rev now working, i would start at checking the switch and goin downstream from there.

1. I highly recommend you DO NOT use wesicos, the OEM 06 pistons will LONG outlast the weiscos and are coated well, and a very good product.

2. you either have a bad exhuast sensor, or your wiring is bad...check the connections about 12" away from the sensor, they might have come apart, tehy are just bullet connectors

3. as to what miller said, i dont know about reverse not working with a check engine light but....

if the reverse isnt working, AFTER you clear the check engine light...try re-seeting your TPS (throttle position sensor), replace your TPS harness, or your idle is too high or too low (1400-1700rpm is ideal)

hope that helps.
