900 side panels tabs

What do you do when the tabs on the console bend or breakoff that holds the side panels on? A better fix?

Cut a piece of aluminum and rivet it on.

I have rivet-nuts on the back side of my console, and a discreet black screw

yeh buddy.

i did the samething a while back, and replaced the console because of it, and same deal happened again.

so after i converted this center console on this time, i used DZUS fastners on the side panels...same ones they used on race cars, just a quater turn...they have been on for 2 seasons now on 2 of my sleds, and never an issue and it keeps the tabs intact as well.

they are located just under the hood straps in the pic below.

best bang for the buck IMO.

I too have been running the Yamaha retainers for three seasons now. Never had a side panel pop off.
