900 RMK for Wife

How do you think one of these would be for a beginner rider who is only going to ride trail, and progress into offtrail setup snow conditions.
I'm trying to get my Wife involved in the sport, and don't want to spend a bunch of money on a sled that she will ride 8 times a year.
I'm looking at an 05 with 1600 miles 151 track (I would put a 144 under it) slp pipe, and in good condition.
Give me some advice.
Thanks

The RMK 900 is a TON of sled for a new rider, they make a butt-load of power and are a lot of sled to handle. If your looking for a good sled for a beginner look at an RMK 600 CFI. Extremely reliable and can be made to have a bunch of power when she wants more sled in the future,

for a beginner and a women dont do it it is a tanks hard steering i loved mine but no way would my wife like it.If you put here on one of theses she will hate snowmobiling they are a guys sled.find here a edge chassie much better and cheap.

Like said above way way to heavy, that could end her hopes of just having a good time. I know if it were my wife she would never want to go again after riding one of those tanks. I to would look for a 600 iq, way lighter and easier to steer. They might cost another $1500 dollars or so but would be well worth it in the long run.

If you want her to file for a divorce, buy her that sled.

Stay away from this sled for the wife.

For 8 rides a year on trail ... 550 fan or 600.

I agree with the others. Not the sled for the wife. Only if she was very experienced and was tough where she can throw a lot of body english around.

Loved my 900, but wouldn't put a women on it. Too much power and weight.

I'll second that!

Had an 06 with a bunch of goodies and crap changed out to make it better but there's not way I would put my wife on it!

Great if you are trying to keep her from going,

its a little much, but the torque works well for beginners, set up the clutch right so it has a nice smooth engagement and it shouldn't be that bad.

I guess it depends on how aggressive she plans to ride and if she is aggressive enough to learn.

Not a beginner sled at all. Put your wife on this and she will hate snowmobiling in a very short time and never want to go again. Hmmm, if that is the goal than maybe get her one...lol

The 900 is a sled for someone who is not afraid to pin the throttle and keep it there.

2005 975 turbo !!!! Oh ya that will get you there !

O.K.
I looked at it, and didn't buy it. I only asked cause it could be had for alot less than what I'm going to end up paying for a clean used sled.

They're pretty heavy sleds, you do have to have the ability to 'manhandle' them when off-camber... I would really hesitate to put a lady on one for that specific reason alone. They make great power in a broad range, which is very forgiving in different situations when a person doesn't want to just pin it and hang on, but they definitely don't handle as light as the newer raw 600/700 sleds do.

:face-icon-small-hapi bought wife a 900 last year. she hated it!! still rides the 600. but i have a bad *** extra sled!! heavy, big, long, hard to handle. unless she is a 6 footer, 200lb plus
