hey guys i hi-jacked another thread but wasnt getting any responses so... we are working on a 2005 900 FUSION, and we modded the oil pump return spring so it will return to idle position properly, and in the process i lost track of where the oil pump shaft was indexed in relationship to the pumps arm! so should i turn the shaft all the way clockwise till it stops, and then turn it counterclock wise until i can get the arm on. or turn the shaft clockwise till it stops, then install the arm & spring, and spin the arm over till i can hook the cable up? or should i be doing something else?? just wanna make sure the pump will output oil properly!!

im assuming that turning the shaft all the way clockwise = minimun oil output since the cable pulls the shaft counterclockwise as you give it more throttle hence increasing oil output! thanks dano

Dan, I just checked my spare pump...
The arm and shaft have flat spots that line up.... otherwise the shaft spins endlessly in either direction leading me to believe that internally the shaft has a lob like a camshaft which opens flow according to arm position.
No indexing required, install the arm and go!
