Does anyone know if there would be a compatibility issue dropping an '03 Mtn Cat 900 into an '05 King? Basically chassis to chassis?

the 03 is carb correct? is the 05kk chassis an efi? only difference would be the motormounts from carb to efi

'05 King came either carb or EFI. Either way, doesn't make much difference. Only 1 motor mount is different (right rear) and if you've got the mount off the '03, you're set. All the holes in the bulkhead are the same. If the '05 is EFI though, you'll need the airbox (or at least the rubber carb boots out of it) from the '03, the fuel pump from the '03, and you'll need to plug the hole in the gas tank for the EFI fuel pump.

What exactly is wrong with the king engine? You could just take the parts off the '03 and fix it, rather than swap the whole thing.

Actually wrecked my '03 Mtn Cat... bulkhead/tunnel. Looking at options out there. Found 2 bulkhead tunnels (162" or 151") and found the '05 King chassis. I have everything I need for the swap if the chassis are a match, as I suspected they are. My dilema: is it easier and more cost effective to tear down and rebuild from bulkhead up for $300.00, or swap out motors/extra into a roller chassis and have the project done quicker for $1000.00?

If you can afford it I would do the rolling chassis for $1000. Not to mention you'll have all types of extra parts for yourself, or you can sell them off and probably make money off your old chassis.

Not sure what it takes to do it from the bulkhead up, but I would gues your looking at least 50-60 hours, maybe more. Engine swap will be about 3 hours, give or take.
