Last ride of the year and my 900 crank threw a bearing. 5100 miles on it and I am heartbroken. What are your guys opinions on what should be done? I have all summer to build it stronger and before anyone asks, yes I premix along with the oil injection.

It depends on what happened to yours when it went which will drive what needs to be replaced and the cost. You should definitely pull it apart to find out what you need (maybe a case....). Based on the cost you need to decide whether to rebuild or replace.

If you go with a rebuild your best choices are probably a Polaris crank kit (you get a lot for your dollar here) plus whatever else you need or Indy Dan.

Last year I completely rebuilt mine; polaris crank kit, crank case & pistons. Considering I had already replaced one cylinder and the stator I figured I had a brand new engine that would last me forever....until the exhaust valve broke this year. One cylinder, piston and 2 exhaust valves later I'm hoping it will last forever. However, I also have a 4 stroke which is absolutely amazing in terms of reliability and gas mileage so I'm currently looking to replace my 900.

My engine rebuild last year cost me around $2500 cdn for parts & shipping and I did all the work.

I was leaning towards Dan.... He has done my clutch work since I have had my 900.... I don't care how much money I have to put into my 900. I have yet to find another sled that gives me that "O" face as much as my 9 does. Wish polaris would revive this motor in the new sleds

I can relate, I just spent a bunch of money and rebuilt the engine in my 900 and even though my 09 M1000 is 50lbs lighter, and has almost 45 hp more, it still doesn't excite me the way my old P.O.S. 900 does... my 900 just fits me so well!:D:face-icon-small-coo

I do but I don't know what direction to head.... Dan or just get the polaris crank kit?
Either way no matter what send it to Dan, even if you get just the updated crank kit he can add a larger pto bearing and machine the cases to prevent some of the pto side breakage issues. This is what I did to mine.

It takes a special person to see the potential of a Polaris 900. It takes a special person to bring out the potential of a polaris 900 and it takes a special person to handle the true potential of a polaris 900. It is good to be a part of the Polaris 900 elite!!!

I think we need a badge to show this LOL
