900 crank issue

Hi all, new here. I've been reading a lot of threads on what do do about a buggered crank and have already decided to go with Indy dans tm when I rebuild. But I am wondering what would cause a rod bearing to let go in the first place? I've checked everything over and it all looked ok. The only thing I can think is when my belt let go last year under heavy load it bent the crank? Any input is apriciated. Just trying to figure out why it let go. Thanks!

I've had lots of belts snap on my 900 when it was new. Never broke or bent the crank. In fact it is still running on the original crank, balancing the primary is the key.

If your sled gets condensation inside the engine over the summer when it is being stored you can get rust on the bearings. Then when you go to ride it in the fall it takes your bearings out in about 10 miles or less. Starting your engine every month or two and running it up to temp over the summer helps to prevent this.
