How many of you are running the 3" Polaris track with the chain case? Any feedback or gearing changes you've made or like so far?
 
Well mine will be boosted as they always are but I have always changed mine to a 20/43. Gets her in that 2.25 Final range which is much better than the 2.53.

Whats your thoughts of the 3" track? I remember riding in Alaska for 12 years with the changing snow conditions.
 
If you are going to run a 3”, IMO, switch out the stock Polaris track for an X3 or PC. The stock track gives up to easy, it folds over. It is really noticeable on one equipped with a turbo, it’ll get sketchy fast.
20/43 is what we prefer. 21/45 also works.
 
Tony what are your thoughts on the X3 vs X3.2?

I haven’t tried the 3.2, I may install one on my drop and roll sled.
My concern is with snow evacuation on the AXYS chassis, the 3” is already to tight in my opinion.
I’m contemplating cutting .200” off my stock 3” to stiffen the paddle and add evac room. I’ll post once I give it a try.
We cut .200” off the outer lugs on an X3 last year, big improvement all around.

Trs how far in on trimming of lugs? And how did the trimmed track compare to powerclaw? I have a new 850 with 3x 163. I wanted a chaincase because it will get boost after first year if it's a good motor. Do the lugs fold over as easy as 5.1 series 2.4? I actually really liked that track for powder. One reason the 2.6 works so well could be the there is correct clearance for snow evacuation. I really like drop and roll but it really leaves the drive shaft open to hits. I've bent and broken my fair share over the years. Really sucks pulling one of them out when track doesn't want to turn.

This might be different on the 850, but on my 18 800 163 3" I am running Silber and the TKI belt drive kit and the 2.33 setup. All tree ridding and I Absolutely love it.

Cutting .200” off the complete length of the outside lugs. Leaving the center lug uncut. The PC seems to work well, just need more time on it. After the lug cut on my 850, I’ll install the PC.
Need to get past breakin and get some clutching done first.

I actually like the Polaris 3". Tired a 280 and then a 2.6 last year and only missed my 3". My 16 3" started failing after about 1000 miles but I did not have it clipped. My 2.6 last year fully clipped did well but I missed the 3".

I ran a X3 on my boosted Pro and loved that track! Would like to try a 3.2 and feel there is enough room in there. I am not a huge fan of the PC, acts like the 2.8 Conquer. Super fast down hill!
 
Tony, do you feel there are clearance issues in the Axys with 7t drivers (3.0 pitch)?
 
Looking for an opinion here on 163 x3 I'm thinking of taking a small 1/4 in rod and heating it up hot and burning 1/4 in slots in track lug trying to pattern the x3. Making little finger type pattern on tip of lug.
 
I like the thinking. I think if you could duplicate the saw tooth design would be better as it's proven. Like you, I don't like the smooth paddles. Great thinking. You will need patience. Post pics on the progress.

I have 3.2 on a boosted 16,163. I love that track, have no clearance issues at all. I tore a paddle on my original stock 3” so needed replacing. I put the conquer 280 on it, but I didn’t like it. I think the 280 would be good for stock sled but you seem to give up way too much performance with boost.
The 3.2 track is a much better in all situations, in deep powder it just keeps on pulling. I went with the 3.2 over the 3.0 cause i wanted the saw tooth edges. Way better for steep down hills, especially in spring snow.
