850 vs. 800 power

Good afternoon,

General question on people that have ridden a 850 and 800. I have a 850 163 track and my wife has an 800 155 track. Both are 2019 Founders Editions. Over the weekend i got on my wife's sled as she wasn't riding and wanted to give it a try. I found that her 800 feels snappier than my 850 does from a start.

Is that normal? I assumed getting on her 800, it was going to feel slower.

If that's not normal, what should i look at on my 850.

thanks!

It's normal.

Swapping back and forth between my ascender and 850na khaos is pure disappointment. Hopefully some clutch work will bring the khaos to life, stock the 850 motor is sleepy feeling

Wow, that's odd. My '23 Khaos 850 feels amazing. Powerful, snappy, goes like hell (anybody remember the Omni GLH?). Then I hop on my 2011 M8 with the 800 HO motor that's said to have very nearly the same power, and while yeah it's great power for an 800, it pales in comparison to my Khaos 850.

That light crank in the 800 lets it rev up quickly. The downside is the fast revving does seem to account for much more wear on the clutch arm bushings. My 850's had their clutches last much longer than the 800's I've owned. The trick to the 850 is to not load it too much in the lower part of its rpm band. This is best done with light heel clutching and lower gearing. Once the power does come on the 850 doesn't hit a wall like the 800's.

Apples to oranges

Thank you for the reply. Why is the 850 like that and what's the upgrade to get it to come to life? It's not terrible, just not near as snappy as the 800.
Clutching is the cheapest way.

TRS is the best.

If you don't like mechanic work picking up a used 9r is the funnest way to get a snappy sled. :)

The matryx 850 / 9r has much higher fuel injection system resolution and runs cleaner.
