850 coolant bottle/thermostat on 16/17

I did it to mine, works really good, but the clearance was really tight to the oil pump, so I slid the oil pump over. Running a silber turbo, so there was plenty of room to slide the oil pump over, I'm not a hundred percent sure if you can slide the oil pump over with the stock air box. I don't have any pictures at the moment but I could get you some.

Pictures don't do enough Justice, you'll need both you cooler hoses and you'll have to modify the 850 hose from the cylinder head to the bottle, also by the 850 cooler model brackets, I built my own but I'll never get that time back LOL. I'm switching over to the SKS 850 coolant bottle because I put a front cooler in. You'll have roughly $200 in parts....

What do I do with the bypass? plug it off or leave it open?

Just wanted to mention that doing this mod is a pain. I made a mount for the coolant bottle. Not a lot of room and the oil pump makes things extremely tight. I got coolant hoses from a parted out pro for free. I was able to mix and match to make it work. Cost is only the coolant bottle at $65.

This mod get rid of the stock thermostart for the 850 integrated thermostat. Drops operating temperatures 10-15 degrees. I would say it's worth it.
Oh... I thought the mod was on a 16/17 to add something from the 850 that was worth upgrading...

wasn't there reports that the older 800 pre 18 didn't like being so cold and were acting up? because the ecu never considered the engine up to temp?

Yes, I had read this as well, that is one of the reasons the ecu has a different flash for 18 and newer 800s - better flowing head and thermostat nd lower temp thermostat. Some guys improve their cooling on 16 and 17 sleds by putting on the 18+ head, I think tht is where they ran into problems.
