835 Bender Motor Jetting

Looking for more input on jetting a Bender 835.

I ride from 4000 - 8000 feet.

Currently:
147.50 Mains
62.50 Pilots
Middle w/washer underneath Needle

Issue:

Sounds pig rich idling and sluggish off the bottom. Once it comes onto the pipe it rips. If it idles for too long it feels as if it fouled the plugs. I'm just hoping someone can get me closer than me throwing diffrent jets at it while on the mountain. Anyone help with this? Local guys running 835's swear by this set up.............. Thanks for any and all help.

(I also remember Hammer running a pilot that was a lot leaner in the old forum too.)

I taek it your are running the stock carbs and are thus not case ported??? I ran 151.5 on all three and a 52.5 pilot and the needle in the middle with both wahsers on top,I ran 94 octane with a Kemco boost in it as well...fun sled, what are you useing for clutching?/???:o:beer;

Yep stock carbs. I think Yammerhammer told me it was case ported. Maybe he will chime in. What elevation were you running?

Clutching
BBU weights, 14.5 rollers, I can't remember the spring color however it is a soft engaging and similar to the one I have in a MTN Max mod that I like. Secondary is currently a silver spring twisted to 60 degrees with a Hartman helix that says A-1.

Thanks

I was running it 8k-10k. If you are still running my primary set-up, I ran the G-W-G spring in it.

Yes, it's case ported.

You ditched the team 'eh? I had my best luck with the team, just needed a little stiffer spring.

#1leaddog helped me out a ton. he rides around your elevation.

Didn't ditch the team. Going with what I know first, Team will go on after I get this jetting thing dialed. I changed the primary spring, too high of engaugment for me. It does rip after it get's on the pipe.

I will pm #1leaddog.

Anyone else want to give there .02? Thanks guys.

Got it!!!! Frikin DMV then told me I had the wrong paperwork. Man they sure test your blood pressure. It took me the better part of an hour in there going back and fourth till I finally pointed out the exact person that told me what I was suppose to do!!! Anyways thank you for your help.:)

I posted a couple of pics under my MTN Max for sale. BR Tech still has not sent me my hood. Everytime I call, it is someone quit or the are forming it tommorow. Anyways Jim, I will send you pics of it finished & when I get a hood for it. I think the jetting you had and I have is a little rich is all. I just Am hoping someone gets me closer with out trial and error. Thanks ;)

Jetting

Put in 45 pilots at 2 turns out on the screws set idle at about 16-1700. Needle is probably good at that elevation. Make sure your carbs are sychronized. Main jets are close depending on gas and compression. If it rips when you are able to get it moving it is all in the pilots. If it stutters when you nail it at a standstill bump up the pilots.

Will drop it off at your place with the title for a small sum!!!! Then you not only can tune it this year you could also ride it next year!!!! I'm such a great friend!!!!

Hey buddy, wait till you ride this!!! Makes our Big Bore MTN Maxs look like Phazers!!!!

I'll second that - I have some good seat time on that sled and I may have shed as many tears as Yammerhammer when it went down the road. That thing flat rips and is one of the most fun chassis I've ever ridden.

..Case porting only really helped when run with the 38 mm flatslides out of the mach z With the clutching make sure to run a cat sec spring(purple or red)set at 0/2 at least a 51/45 helix. 21/42 gearing a 56/50 with 8dn-020s fully loaded and a grn/wht/grn, but that was with the big carbs....................02:eek:
