809 Clutching

Hey guys I am struggling with clutching on my 1997 summit with a 809/jaws tripple pipes/vforce reeds/lectron megatron 44mm. I have a cat roller secondary with tra primary,rolled chaincase with 151x16x2.25. It pulls hard now for a old cheap sled but I feel like someone with some experience may be able to help me with a good setup. I have tried a few different motor locations and different belts. Does anyone have a suggestion on how far I should space my primary from my secondary, and what belt would work best. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Love the triples!

I had a 780 in an S chassis that used Crankshops motor plate. I also used a bearcat secondary. I ran the Ultimax XS belt but it was the same belt that any Edge, Fusion, and I think Dragon uses, the '080' belt or XS #809.

As far as setup goes, I ran a 45 helix with a the yellow spring in the center position. TRAII was setup with Titanium arms, 04 Rev pins with as much weight as I could put in them (set screws), 160/350 primary spring and ran it on clicker 2-3 depending on the day. This was also used with 18:44 gearing, 9 tooth drivers, and I ran my engine at 9200 RPMs

I also had the 151x16x2.3 Challenger track.

I've got a similar set up, except I run a Hyperlite secondary now. I run a green/pink primary spring, 286 ramps. Can't remember pin weight off the top of my head but just use the threaded pins and adjust as needed. 19/44 gearing/9 tooth drivers/159 Camo. When I had a Cat secondary on it I used a Cutler red/white spring with a 49 cam. I only use the Doo 027 belt. I don't think I've had to buy a new belt in probably 3 years

* I also ran the 228 ramps

Never had any problems with belts after I switched to the Ultimax XS as well but it would eat Ultimax 3s like candy
