800r rejetting question

I bought a SLP Y pipe, pipe and can for my 08 xp. I have installed the can but have not rejetted yet for the Y pipe and pipe. Is there any rocket science to installing the jets? When I bought the kit I also bought the "correct" jets, as per SLP and my dealer. I am mechanicaly inclined and do all of my other vehicles/toys repairs. However any input would be helpful and appreciated since I dont want to tare it apart then take it to the dealer or burn down my engine.

Thanks in advance

I have a slp Y pipe, pipe, and can on my 08 xp 800r. I have ben runing stock jetting with the slp set up for over 300 miles. 5-8,000' elevation.
I just make sure to run gas that does not have ethonal in it. I ran one tank with about 5 gallons of ethonal in it with no problems.

I can't tell if I gained much power. I can't wait to put the head on to see how it does. I will need to rejet for the head.
I didn't change clutching any from stock pipe to slp pipe. After I get the head on I will play with gearing and clutching some more.
slp pipe is 5lbs lighter then stock pipe. I am runing a hps canister because the slp can is pretty heavy compared to hps or super Q.

Your definetly right about the can weight but I like how quiet the SLP can is. And since I weigh 255# there COULD be alot more weight savings in my mid section:eek:

Anybody else before I tare this thing apart?

slp parts

I have a hps can, slp 6-8k head, slp y pipe.......stock jetting. Ridden several hundred miles in this and no problems

we run stock jetting[480] with just a pipe and 500 with a pipe and 6000-8000 head--we are at 8000 feet plus--about 400-500 miles on sleds:D:beer;

you really need to doo a couple wide open pulls say 800-1000 feet and hit the kill switch and ck the piston wash with a bore scope---we cked our several times and they are real safe at 480 pipe and 500 pipe and head
