800R Question

On the 800R engine there is a clear tube that goes from the crank case up to the oil tank.
Is this just a breather hose to help the emissions?

Should there be oil in this hose, and if there should not be oil in this hose why would it be there?

This is on a 09 XP, and the oil in the hose is about the same level as the carbs.

The oil goes to the water pump cavity. When you fill the oil res all the way up oil will flow down tube.

this is the way it was on the REVs so I can only assume its the same on the xp.
