800 Summit X Top End

I am in the process of doing the top end on a 2002 800 Summit X, replacing the pistons and rings. The pistons that I took out were Elko pistons. The number on the pistons said 81.88(mm). This I assume would be the diameter of the piston. The new pistons I got were Skidoo pistons. I was told I got the latest pistons offered by Doo. These said 81.87 (mm) on the top of the piston though. Will this harm anything or is this just the difference between the two brands of pistons.

Well I got to thinking on this and came to the conslusion that it is just the difference between the two brands. I was thinking the number was in standard units and that there was 10 thousanths of an inch difference. Then I remembered it was millimeters, so it is only 1/100 of a millimeter smaller. This comes out to be 4/10,000 of an inch. Which is next to nothing. So as soon as I get my new thermostat I am installing the head and start riding it again.

I have the same sled and the best thing that I ever did was put in the RK-Tek drop-in kit and head. The compression ratio is 14:1 and I run straight 91 octane. The sled pulls real hard and solves the single ring piston failure issue.
