800 power valve service

I am going through my '13 Pro getting ready for the season. I am currently working on cleaning the power valve assy's. My question is should I disassemble the valve from the housing/bellows? They are extremely gummy under the bellows and would like to take them apart to thoroughly clean them. With the cap and spring removed, it looks like a "stud" on the valve with a nut to hold it together...is it as simple as removing the nut and sliding the valve out?

IMO there is no need to remove the nut for just cleaning, only when bellows replacement in needed.

The Edge vintage Liberty had red loctite on that nut and you need to use heat to remove it safely.

I wouldn't remove it if it didn't need to be.

Are the new power valves stainless steel?

I Will just clean them without removal thanks!

Its not necessary to remove the bellow nut from the guillotine. But I do, and lightly stretch the bellow and hold it up to a light and check for pin holes. I usually wire wheel the guillotines and removing the bellows eliminates any chance of hitting them with the wire wheel! I then remove my Y-pipe and rotate a piston down, lay a micro fibre ( no lint or strings) rag in the cylinder through the exhaust port and scrape out the valve housing in the cylinder down onto the rag!
