800 HO Recoil

Had recoil come apart, sled quit running. Heard it probably took out stator.:eek:
Is stator fixable or replacement?
Should I go factory or aftermarket?
Is stator serviceable by myself or dealer (special tools or knowledge)?
Reputable parts supplier for recoil and stator?
Has anyone had this happen and how did you deal with it. Thanks for any input. Motor is in a 440 chassis if that makes any difference.
 
It's pretty easy to change the stator, you'll need a puller to get the flywheel off?? ( I think that is what it's called) Then the stator just un-bolts from the crank case.

Took a stator out last year , there around $385.00 new OEM ,since that sides apart could service the bearing through the stator attach screw holes with Isoflex grease just a thought , also the spring clip on the recoil that holds the plastic pawl together can be secured ,either by drilling a hole through the plastic housing stud and install a stainless cotter key or if the housing has a hole through the middle install a long pan head bolt with fiber locking nut ,my 2 cents

I have ordered a new recoil, once I see it hopefully I can figure out the drill position. I appreciate the advice. That isoflex is the expensive stuff from skidoo only correct? Would be a smart move I reckon. I'm going to pull the flywheel and see what else went kaflooey.
