800 CFI with Carls Full Porting and Twin Pipes

I am about to send my cylinder, case, head and exhaust valves in to Carl's for some Struthers magic, wondering what everyones experiences are with this setup. FYI I run from 2000-6500, and will be running 30/70 Race/Pump. Its an assault with a 146X2 Challenger.
I'd like the head to head comparisons with other sleds, not looking to be convinced one way or another just what you guys think about what you are running or have witnessed.
PS I have searched on here about this topic.
Thanks,
Steve

Mine ran good enough that I was accused of having an 860 in there running it in front of about 50 witness'. Your complete setup is going to be the key and you'll need to expirement around to find the exact fuel octane ratio that best suites you're riding conditions. It's very finite and once you have the ratio perfect you go from really good to AWESOME. Once again all the other aspects of vehicle tune can change your results.

If your sled doesn't dominate a great running single pipe (similar vehicle) in every way shape or form from drag racing to full pull hillclimbing you have something awry in your system. It won't be the motor exhaust combo it will be in traction or gearing. Once again I'm super happy with mine and it isn't even ported which was another notch better yet! Congrats and hurry...snow is coming!

So are you guys aware of people running below 6000' with twins???

With the new lower compression head can this be done with some mixture of race gas???

As of a few days ago with the Carl's twin setup you will still run the 09 head until SLP gets some stuff tested or maybe forever. It works excellent and is tried and true. I think the conventional wisdom says don't mess with what works.

So answer by my experience is yes. If I rode alot at say 4000 starting and got to 6000 max I'd run just exactly what Carl's specs for their standard package which is 25%-30% and the higher compression 50% style head. For our air there seemed to be a magic change at about 4000 minimum. I think that is a safety margin spec'd in so guys don't go smoking things and blaming it on the supplier. Be certain to start exactly where they recommend!

Ride mine from 3000 and up to 11000. Did quite alot of testing right at 2900 to 3000 feet. It definately wanted a higher octane ratio then what Carl's recommends for 5000 to 8000. We found out that the octane you throw at it compensates for the altitude that you are riding per my comments. That is why I advise people go with the suppliers recommended ratio then fine tune it for their environment if you experience a need. Then if you want superior performance be very precise in your fuel management. (if you just want to go ride and have a nice running hotrod simply put in the 30% or 50% irregardless)

Example: if they recommend a 50% 110 - 91 at 5000-8000 feet we found that on the demonstrator sled we could wean it off of race gas when riding 8000-11000 and it performed strongly without detonation.

Ported D8

Well I don't run the twins, but I have Carl's port/pipe/head combo on my 09 D8 and it ran like a raped ape last year. The twin pipe set up runs stronger for sure, so I expect that you will be very happy. :D

I also have a ported twin piped Carls D8 and loved it. It runs better (quality wise) than any twin piped sled I've been on. I ran mine against a Fully modded 800 ski doo Hilclimb motor with twin pipes done by Trigstad that needed 100% race gas and it had nothing on my sled in a drag race or up the hill, very very close whoever got the jump stayed there, on a hill I could slowly pull away. A buddy of mine has a Carls 860 single pipe and in a drag race it was almost dead even depending on who got the jump, on a climb he seemed to have a little on me but not much but his sled also is 50#'s or so lighter and he also is 60-70#'s lighter than me. My opinion is I love my sled and motor/package, the 860 has more torque on the bottom than my carls 800. You'll love it.
I'm still waiting to see what the best option for the new head is. Carls head mod or SLP new heads?
Anybody have thoughts or insight on this?
The new map safety features should be awsome also as far as detonation issues.

Be careful with twins at low elevations. The only twins That Ive seen with the 800 was the SLP race twins. The diameter at the end of the pipes were to small and needed to be enlarged. I have no idea about the other twins out there, something to ask.
