800 case problems...

do the 800 rotax engines have cracking problems in the lower crankcases ?
this is for years around 2003....

If the big end of the rod burns up, it allows too much movement and it self clearances the bottom case half, causing it to crack. I had an 01 800 do it. Hope this helps.

If you have a well maintained machine this is not going to be a problem, but if you have a machine that has been rode for years or miles with out a good check up then yes you might be looking at a crank or rod going out. But as far as a problem no, not if maintained like anything else.

I have a friend that bought my 02 800 HMX and he uses it for trapping now and it is bone stock other then a can and he has over 5000 miles on it now and never has had a problem one with it. Just saying some get the good and some get the ugly.
