Any one put a different motor in a 03 prox that had a 440 in it i'm thinking a polaris 800 bb any info would be help full. Thanks.

ya I put a 800non ves in one only problem oil pump is too close broke it off 10 miles in hits shock tower had to lift and do a little body work now its ok

My big block conversions have been in an '02 race chassis, but aside from pushing the steering post a bit more forward in '03, the rest is pretty much identical. The 800 will fit, but as mentioned, it's very tight on the MAG side. I had to take a rubber mallet to "gently" shift the MAG side bulkhead to get a bit more room there - it moves easier than one would expect. The oil pump will fit, but I drilled a hole in the MAG side bulkhead to make clearance for the nut on the pump arm. If you go premix, then no issues. I probably still have pics of the sleds if those would be useful.

If you do not want to go with a plate here is what you use.

03/04 Pro X:

1. engine straps- You can use the ones off the 440 but you have to re-drill them. 700/ 800 ones are a direct bolt on and in.
2. Y pipe and pipe of a 700 or 800 to clear the shock towers. 800 its best to use a can off of a 800 as the flow is a bit different between a 700 and 800 can.
3. Carb boots off of a 700/ 800 to clear the jackshaft.
4. Air box- You can cut the holes out on the 440 air box to the width of the 800 carbs and then just drill out an aluminum plate the width of the air box and rivet it to the air box. You need to use the rubbers between the carb box off a 700 or 800.
5. You then need to move the mag side engine mount's to the outer hole's as well.

What I do for the oil pump is drill out a inch hole. through the plate on the bulkhead where it hits... Basically the center of the hole should be the center of the oil pump.. It do not find it a good idea to beat the plate out with a hammer....

Not sure what 800 this is but you need to use the coil and CDI off the 800. If possible the 800 main harness works the best too. Then just hook up your coolant lines and get an oil container to put on. Pretty easy swap.

Yep, can't make full clearance for the oil pump arm with the rubber mallet, so the hole is necessary. However, some MAG side bulkheads fit so tight, the recoil housing has interference, even with the motor sitting on stock mounting straps. In that case, no choice...

I had one that was fairly close. It was the last one that I did, never seen one that hit though.

Larry, I put a 1200 in one and then later a 800 VES. I loved that chassis. Brad's plate made it a breeze.
