800/900 slp pipe the same?

I purchased a 2002 800 Mnt and the previous owner gave me a slp single pipe. He didn't know if it was for the 800 or 900. How can I tell. Pipe has no numbers on it. Will an 900 pipe work on an 800?

It will work.

I am sure their are slight differences between the two. And the only way you would ever know the difference would be on a dyno.

I know in years past when the 900 first came out we ran 800 pipes on them because they didn't have what they said was 900 pipes.

Once we had the 800 pipes on we just never felt it was worth the money to switch.

So run them.

If it is a SLP it will have a tag welded on it somewhere with a number on it. Something like 09-343. Find that number and go to slp website www.startinglineproducts.com and see what it is.

i 3 mtn 800 and 1 900 i have talk to slp and d&d they both said that the 900 wouldnt work well on the 800
