8" billets on stock Dragon 155" axle?

I have a two wheel kit that I took off of my 2005 Summit before I got rid of it. I tried to put the axle along with the 8" billets on my Dragon 155" but the axle was set back too far and the track ended up being way too tight. My question is, if I take the wheels off the axle from my Summit, can I just put them on the stock axle on my Dragon? Is it bad if the wheels stick down a little below the hifax? Anyone know if this wheel swap will work, or do I need to buy an aftermarket Polaris-specific axle? Thanks.

The factory rails are tipped up, so yes, it will work. I've run this way for several years on one of my sleds with no issues. There's only 3/8" of wheel hanging below the hifax, and at the back of the rail, there's about 3/4" of tip up. Going from Doo to Polaris, I'm pretty sure you will need to swap bearings.

Not saying the offset axle isn't a good idea, just not absolutely necessary when going from 7-1/4" to 8" wheels. If for some reason you have flat rails though, you need the offset axle for sure.

I would agree with Hundo.....Not absolutely necessary to have a diff axle, however I ran 8" wheels for a long time on my old sled with no probs.
