7x29 LOOK or 7x35 AH

Not sure which to go with. We like to get as many sleds west as we can so were not sure if the 7x29 is long enough. We all have XP 154" at minimum so if five guys can fit in the truck we figure we should be able to haul five sleds. The only problem were having is the fact that we would be buying a shorter aluminum trailer versus a longer steel trailer. Obviously the aluminum would last longer and be lighter but the steel would probably be nicer for room. Looking for opinions. I know I'm probably gonna take hits for looking at a steel trailer :bolt:

Maybe not an option, but if you only go with 5 sleds a portion of the time, put one in the truck bed and put the tailgate up.

I have a 7x27 MTI, 22 square with a 5' V. We fit 5 sleds in this trailer, 2 136's, 2 141's, and a 144 but it was tight. If your looking at a 29 I think you will be fine with 5 xp's. Before we squeezed 5 sleds in this trailer we thought about just putting one in the box. This trailer in particular has a fairly short tongue on it (about 6 inches or so from the tailgate in the down position to the nose of the V. A longtrack sitting on the tailgate would hit the front of the trailer so that wouldn't work. Just something to watch for on other trailers, not sure how long the hitch sticks out on others. I wouldn't hesitate again to get another steel trailer. There is very little steel exposed to rust and the extra aluminum it takes to match the strength of steel makes the weight comparable from what ive seen shopping around. The aluminum was usually around 800 lbs lighter depending on model. I would recommend sticking with a 7' inline style trailer. They pull very easily, track straight and are easy to see around. Good luck!

I have a Mirage 24' trailer. Haul 2-154" tracks and 2-163" tracks. We "might" be able to get one more sled in but it would be REALLY tight. I have had good luck so far with this Mirage but there are a ton of nightmare stories about quality issues so I am looking to upgrade to an aluminum trailer. From my research I agree with CF8SP about the weight savings being about 800lbs but I disagree in buying an inline. We take a spare sled along and it would be a pain to unload them all to get around the one in the nose. That extra foot makes it way easier to get around inside the trailer when it is loaded. Also, I tow with a a half ton. I put air bags in it and it makes all the difference. I commute in my truck every day and don't have to put up with a harsh suspension during the week but when I tow I can level out the truck. Much safer without the nose of the truck running high with the trailer attached.
