7ft wide trailer - How long for 2 sleds?

I am interested in buying a cargo trailer to pull behind a mid-sizw suv. My sleds have reverse, so I don't need the front ramp. How long does the trailer need to be with and without a V-nose to haul two long track sleds? Thanks for your help and let me know if you have a trailer like this for sale for around $3,000.

Triton 147 Prestige

My Triton Prestige 147 is 14 foot to where the v nose starts, the v nose adds another 5 feet. You could do it with a 12 foot trailer like your talking about, but a 14 footer would be way nicer, and give you some room for gear.

It depends on what you have for sled lengths, i have a 22' enclosed with a 5' v-nose MAKING IT A TOTAL OF 27' and my king cat has a 162" track and xp has a 154" track, they are on one side of the trailer and i need at least 20' with both being sucked up really tight together, so in my opinion you would at least need a 20' trailer depending on your sled lengths. Just put both of your sleds tight together and measure from the skis of the front one to the back of tunnel on the last one that should tell you what size trailer you need. Just my .02

But i guess if you are staggering them in like idaho mike i would take his word for it i have never done that before and maybe i should have looked at his pics before posting sorry my bad.

I ride a xp with a 154" track, and the other sleds would be at least this long. Some will have 163" tracks. I have been looking at 7x14 cargo trailers with a rear ramp and a flat front because they are in my price range, but I do not know if I need a 14ft or 16 ft to fit 2 sleds staggared. I have tried to measure in the garage, but it is hard to tell if they will fit. Has anybody tried to haul their sleds in this type of trailer?

You might also look at an aluminum 2 place open with a cover on it, or maybe something like a TC11 by Triton. Either way if you get one that is a couple years old you are looking at a really nice trailer and still in you price and size range. Plus they would be lighter than a cargo trailer, and easier on gas than having that flat front. The Coveralls and TC11's pull really great and are already set up to haul your sleds. If you would like any more info please feel free to ask me. 307-235-6685. You might also check out my website, http://wyomingtrailer.com, I have a dealer demo 12' Triton Elite Coverall with lots of options and its discounted a bunch off of retail. $4,750. Its a little higher than your $3,000 budget, but its brand new and has warranty too. I think its worth a look at.
Thanks

2 Sleds in a 7x14 Trailer

I ride a xp with a 154" track, and the other sleds would be at least this long. Some will have 163" tracks. My Triton 147 Prestige is parked in my side yard right now with my sleds loaded in it. I have an 09 XP Summit X 154" facing forward and an 06 Rev Summit X 151" facing backwards. The trailer box is 14 feet before the V, and the XP is parked where the V starts and the 06 Rev ski's are right at the back door and I have plenty of room behind both sleds, and I could also back the 06 in further in towards the front if I wanted to.

I use to load my sleds into this trailer through the nose with both sleds facing the rear of the trailer. Then a friend of mine in Minnesota who has the same trailer told me he had started loading both of his sleds through the rear, and it actually gave him more storage space, and you can walk between the sleds while in the trailer.

I could take pictures and get the exact measurements tomorrow for you if you would like, but I can tell you with out a doubt that two mountian sleds will fit in a 7x 14 trailer if you load them this way with room for gear. You may think of buying a cargo trailer with a V nose though, they just pull a lot better than a square nose. I had an 8 foot wide cargo trailer and you could definetly feel the drag in any head wind even with my 1 ton dually Powerstroke.

Couldn't you load one from the rear forwards, then back the other one in from the rear? I would think you could back them up almost completly and fit in like 12'. I've never done it but I would think 14' would leave tons of room. My buddies open trailer is only 7.5' wide and we fit 2 sleds wide and the skis don't hang out over the sides, and the rear is a lot narrower.

Idaho Mike pictures would be great. I am considering a v-nose or one with that aerodynamic bubble on the top. I just want to make sure that a 7x14 box is big enough.

Does anybody have one of these for sale? 7x14 with a ramp door either v-nose or flat front would work in the $3,000 price range.

Yea, that's just what I said in my last post on how I load my sleds into my trailer.

It's snowing out right now, but I'll get you pictures of my sleds in my trailer, and some measurements for you by the weeekend.

OK. Here you go. Measured the sleds in the trailer this afternoon and you should have no problem fitting (2) 163" inch tracks in a 7x12 trailer if you load them like I do into my Triton. Just find yourself a cargo trailer with a ramp door, perferably a v nose, a couple of sleds with reverse and your good to go.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your search!

Thanks alot for your help, I am planning on buying a trailer next week. I live in Hailey also, so hopefully I'll run into you sometime.

Happy to help you out. :beer;

Look for the white Ford F-350 PS Crew Cab dually pulling the Triton enclosed trailer it's the only one in town. :D

IdahoMike,

I've been looking at doing the same thing. Do you think I could fit two similar sleds (151" tracks) in a 6' x 14' trailer?
