I was reading on a thread a while ago, where someone was having some wiring problems with a King Cat. He went through the whole process of not running correctly, and finally got it running but his tachometer wasn't working.
76FOMOCO kept telling him "You've got a short, you better find it or you'll fry your stator".
Well my Tachometer started reading 3000 - 3500 rpm, when it should have been reading 7800 - 7900 rpm. and when I gave it the gas, it would bobble downward.
I instantly told myself "You've got a short, you better find it or you'll fry your stator".
I found the short. The wire retainer on the engine, behind the pull rope had worn the rubber off of it, and the metal wore through the two yellow wires. I had some electrical tape with me, and after the pipe cooled a bit I was able to fix the short, and get back to the business at hand; Sledding.
